DESCRIPTION:Debate Night is a light-hearted debate format where we debate topics suggested by the community – with the community. \nWHAT are we debating?\nNow more than ever\, the question of how governments should navigate through crises arises across the globe. And yet\, we seem to all make the same basic assumption: that democracies are by default the superior form of government. But is that really the case? \nTo answer this question\, we are debating the following motion: \n“Totalitarian governments are better suited to deal with crises than democratic ones.” \nWHY are we debating?\nOne look at social media and you’ll probably agree: there’s a lack of proper debating culture in current public discourse. People are shouting over their counterparts\, insulting those who hold different opinions and sometimes even failing to string together anything resembling a coherent thought. \nDebating is an art form that deserves preserving. It’s a skill that requires practice. I personally got completely knocked off everything that was giving me a sort of balance before\, for weeks. In this session\, I will present the different challenges I faced and the techniques that helped me out of it and back into a state of flow. Being a trainer\, I wouldn’t\, of course\, leave it at a mere presentation\, so expect a few exercises on your journey\, that will end up in your personal plan for thriving out of corona! \nAbout Antonis Triantafyllakis:\nAs the director of MYTRAINER\, I combine experiential learning with gamification to ensure a holistic\, playful\, and impactful approach to capacity building\, adaptable to the learners’ needs.
