SUMMARY:Writing Future Stories
DESCRIPTION:Nothing can beat the power of a good story! Powerful short stories showing potential futures where Basic Income has become a reality can develop an emotional connection to those fictional realities\, in the same way various forms of literature have been doing for centuries\, movies and TV series after them\, and even video games and podcasts nowadays. If you can imagine better futures\, you’re much more likely to fight for the policies that could make them happen and convince others to do the same. \nThis workshop will assist the participants to build the skills required to write a good story. Where they take those skills afterwards is up to them and the rest of the Congress! The stories will remain in a shared space online\, allowing the participants to keep improving their stories if they continue being inspired by the process. The best of these stories could be featured on the UBIE website\, promoted on our social media\, and some could even get featured on the Future Diaries podcast! But most importantly\, they will inspire more to keep imagining better futures until we can make them happen. \nThis workshop is part of Basic Income Earth Network Congress 2021\, the world’s biggest Basic Income conference\, with around 200 presentations\, panels and events!\nRegister to attend! Registration is donation-based.

SUMMARY:K2Games in Lithuania!
DESCRIPTION:Have you struggled to include learning around environmental sustainability in your projects? So have we… Sustainable development\, climate change risks and their impact on human health are among the big challenges of current and next decades. Young people today are facing these problems more than anyone and they will be the ones having to deal with the consequences of past generations. \nThrough the K2Games project\, we want to make educational games accessible for youth workers\, and thus for young people\, and provide support to develop constructive\, proactive\, empowering attitudes about environmental issues that impact human health and community welfare. The games are thought to be used in non-formal and informal contexts\, as well as support the work of teachers in formal settings. \nWe have created two Board Games\, five Simulation Games and a Guidebook for youth workers for exactly that purpose! More than 25 people from four countries have been working on our games and guidebook for more than two years now. The pillars holding and guiding this process are the four partner organisations: \n\nSociety for Responsible Consumption from Romania\, as the lead coordinator\nInsight_epd from Italy\nEuropean Environment and Health Youth Coalition based in Lithuania\nCRISP – Conflict Transformation and Civic Education from Germany\n\nIf you are a youth worker inspired by reading the lines above\, this event is for you! European Environment and Health Youth Coalition invites you to a brief presentation of K2Games\, including an open discussion on how you could use K2Games in your organisations and make sustainable education in international youth work playful and effective\, together! \nAGENDA: \n\n16:00 – Introduction and getting to know each other\n16:15 – Presentation of our games and the concept behind them\n16:35 – Discussing ideas on how to use K2Games in your organisations\n16:50 – Closing remarks and farewell\n\nRegistration to the event is FREE\, easy and quick\, through the following link: https://forms.gle/mFtFaWr6aRTeTom7\nYou can download all our games and guidebook at any time from k2games.info!\n*The K2Games project and all related publications were co-founded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The games and guidebook are released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

SUMMARY:To play is to learn (or is it?)
DESCRIPTION:Gamification has been a buzzword for about a decade now in both business and education\, often used to describe anything playful\, without necessarily providing an understanding of the term\, or utilising it to its full potential. What does it really mean though and how can it be used in practice in learning? Is there a difference between gamification and games-based learning? What frameworks and tools can help design and implement engaging coursess using it? But most importantly\, why should you use it? All that and more\, in a session that walks the talk and guarantees fun while leveling up your skills as a trainer! \nBy the end of the session participants will: \n\nUnderstand the basics of gamification in relation to learning and especially experiential learning;\nDifferentiate between gamification and games-based learning and choose the appropriate method for their learning goals;\nFind at least one way to apply gamification in their learning design.\n\nThe session is limited to 12 participants only! \nREGISTER FOR THE EVENT BY CLICKING HERE NOW! \nTrainer: Antonios Triantafyllakis \nOver a decade of involvement in international youth work has helped me discover and test out different skills in practice\, until I found out my passion for learning design. Hundreds of hours of experience later\, delivering various workshops on different topics\, I started settling down to train-the-trainer oriented topics. While on that journey\, my other interests\, experiences and skills I’ve gathered along the way started taking their place on the puzzle that is my life and how it intertwines with my professional practice. In the past few years\, I’ve been focusing more on how the combination of experiential learning and gamification can turn any course or workshop into a fun yet effective experience. I’m now practicing that both in train-the-trainer courses of international NGOs\, as well as in consulting edtech startups and coaching freelance trainers. During the pandemic I’ve also took the turn to online training and have been developing my own techniques to take advantage of my expertise in that direction. \nPrior knowledge required \nNo prior knowledge required \nLength: 2\,5h \nTrack: Learning Design \n \nThis session is part of the Online Training Festival\, a week-long training event\, where experienced\, professional educators share their skills and knowledge at extremely low fares. It is a unique opportunity to learn from specialists from all over the world in the fields of your interest to grow your character and your career! Learn more about it through this link!

SUMMARY:What's your motivation? Keys to motivation via gamification
DESCRIPTION:What’s your motivation? Keys to motivation via gamification \nAbout this Event\nWhat drives us to take action or behave in a specific manner? Do we have different approaches to engaging in an experience? And how does that relate to the way we play games? \nIn this interactive workshop you will have a better understanding of your own motivation\, as this is explored in the field of gamification. There is a lot of knowledge we can derive from game theory\, social dynamics\, as well as player types. After years of research\, we now have practical ways of understanding how we prefer to take action in a given environment\, closely related to how we prefer to play games. This can help enhance one’s motivation in work or life and is not at all limited to gamers\, as it helps to understand our motivation in general. It can be applied on designing an immersive life experience or an engaging working environment. \nCome ready to play and learn through experience! What you take out of this workshop will depend a lot on what you put into it. Join us on an interactive journey of self-discovery! \nTickets: 10 € Standard price \nTo reserve a seat you need to pay a deposit of 5€ (please note that there is an extra admin charge of 1.47€ from eventbrite). You will pay the remaining 5€ on spot.\nBOOK YOUR TICKET HERE! Limited to 8 participants due to COVID-19 regulations. You’re also kindly asked to wear a mask and maintain social distancing for the same reason. \nAbout the Organizer \nAntonios Triantafyllakis is a learning designer and gamification coach. He’s combining experiential learning and gamification to make learning more effective and engaging. He has over a decade of experience in international youth work and is currently working as a social entrepreneur\, in Berlin as well as all over the globe. \nMr. Chong is a psychometric specialist and professional business trainer\, certified in DiSC\, MBTI\, Hogan\, FIRO-B. SUMMARY:Debate Night - Totalitarian vs Democratic Regimes in Times of Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Debate Night is a light-hearted debate format where we debate topics suggested by the community – with the community. \nWHAT are we debating?\nNow more than ever\, the question of how governments should navigate through crises arises across the globe. And yet\, we seem to all make the same basic assumption: that democracies are by default the superior form of government. But is that really the case? \nTo answer this question\, we are debating the following motion: \n“Totalitarian governments are better suited to deal with crises than democratic ones.” \nWHY are we debating?\nOne look at social media and you’ll probably agree: there’s a lack of proper debating culture in current public discourse. People are shouting over their counterparts\, insulting those who hold different opinions and sometimes even failing to string together anything resembling a coherent thought. \nDebating is an art form that deserves preserving. It’s a skill that requires practice. That’s why we debate and urge you to do the same. \nWHO is debating?\n\nDebating FOR the motion: Antonis Triantafyllakis\nDebating AGAINST the motion: Pascal Heymann\nModerating the event: Bastian Behrmann\n\nAntonis Triantafyllakis is the founder of MYTRAINER\, a global social enterprise based in Berlin\, working with the best international trainers and facilitators to provide high-quality training opportunities for youth\, preparing them for the 21st century’s demand in skills\, knowledge and attitudes. \nPascal Heymann is a pitch & presentation trainer and founder of the Berlin Speaking brand. Working in the heart of Europe’s start-up landscape\, he empowers CEOs\, academics and aspiring speakers to confidently communicate their ideas\, generate interest for innovative products and present with a WOW-factor! \nBastian Behrmann is a passionate networker. He regularly creates\, moderates and attends a wide variety of startup events and community meetups. He studied sociology\, media culture and world politics and has experience in event management\, building communities\, coaching startups and managing educational programs. \nPLEASE NOTE: The positions and opinions brought forward by the speakers in the debate do not necessarily represent their personal opinions and positions. \nHOW are we debating?\nWe want the debate to be civil\, so we’ll use a slightly altered version of Oxford-style debate. In short\, we will have three rounds: \n\nRound 1 – Opening statements\, 5 min each\nRound 2 – Questions from audience and opponent\nRound 3 – Closing Statements\, 5 min each\n\nHow can YOU debate with us?\nThe easiest way to participate is by grilling the speakers with pointed and challenging questions! \nIf you want to PARTICIPATE AS A SPEAKER\, you can apply by suggesting a topic! Send Pascal a topic/motion you would like to debate and he will pick the most intriguing ones for future debates – with you as a speaker 😊

SUMMARY:Living or Coping in the 21st Century?
DESCRIPTION:Globally linked by our fingertips\, sharing more knowledge than ever\, yet at the same time all those world & social issues are not getting less. And while all those amazing digital tools and communication apps link us globally\, we interact less with the people right next to us. \nWe often feel bombarded every day with information and institutions we don’t really understand. And while stalling technological progress isn’t the answer\, the younger generation tells us they’re having trouble landing job opportunities\, let alone living their life missions and dreams. And strangely enough\, having higher education seems to have no correlation to greater leadership. \nSo\, does the way we communicate\, work and learn change too fast for us to adapt?! Do we dare to question ourselves sincerely whether we are living or merely coping in the 21st century? \nCome and discuss with like-minded individuals in a structured dialogue facilitated by MYTRAINER and CO-Happening! \nJoin us at be’kech on Wednesday\, 20th of February at 7.30pm.
