Writing Workshop: Future Stories
July 18, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
FreeNothing can beat the power of a good story! Powerful short stories showing potential futures where Basic Income has become a reality can develop an emotional connection to those fictional realities, in the same way various forms of literature have been doing for centuries, movies and TV series after them, and even video games and podcasts nowadays. If you can imagine better futures, you’re much more likely to fight for the policies that could make them happen and convince others to do the same.
This workshop will assist the participants to build the skills required to write a good story. Where they take those skills afterwards is up to them and the rest of the Congress! The stories will remain in a shared space online, allowing the participants to keep improving their stories if they continue being inspired by the process. The best of these stories could be featured on the UBIE website, promoted on our social media, and some could even get featured on the Future Diaries podcast! But most importantly, they will inspire more to keep imagining better futures until we can make them happen.
This workshop is part of the 19th Annual North American Basic Income Guarantee Congress
, a virtual event with the focus on Basic Income: Knowledge, Activism, Policy, with 6 keynote, plenary sessions and more than 30 breakout sessions covering a variety of aspects of basic income, with the contribution of 120 experts!
